1. Travel Lightly

It’s just two days !! You don’t need to take half your closet with you. It’s actually way quicker and way less stressful to pack when you take fewer things. Also, if your bag is too big then it will have to be “checked” at the airport. This is generally just a hassle because it tacks on at least an extra half our to your travel time because you have to walk to the baggage claim area and wait for your bag to arrive on the carousel. And not to mention it also runs the risk of being lost ! So you want a bag that meets the requirements of a carry-on so that you can keep your bag with you on the airplane. A great pair of Running Shoes will also you do good so click here for Our Top Picks ! Seeing as this post is being written by an actual baggage handler who works for the largest airline in the world.. I’d like to recommend to you some carry-on bags that I know to be very durable and reliable. You may not know this but handles break aaalllll the time on carry on bags. But these bags I have tons of experience with and I know they will last you years and years to come:

Backpack

A backpack is every Weekend Traveler’s best friend ! It’s an absolute must-have ! Its purpose is to hold your chargers, snacks, earbuds, AND to hold the little knick-knacks you aquire while exploring around. Without a backpack you’re stuck carrying all your goods in your pockets and in you hands. You can keep a waterbottle, towel, and swimsuit in your backpack for the beach etc. A backpack truly is a traveling life-saver. Here are a few nice ones we picked out:

2. Give Yourself Free Time

When you plan your weekend out, it can be really easy to load up everything you want to see and do in one weekend. But this is a very common mistake. You might think you can perfectly plan out your day but there are many variables that you simply can’t account for when you’re planning. For example: the time it takes to order and eat your food, the time it takes to commute to those different destinations, the time it takes you to shop around etc.. And what if you happen to discover a cool museum or mall or golf course that you want to check out? If you plan every minute of your day beforehand, then you won’t have any time for these spontaneous activities! You want your weekend to be as chill as possible so make sure you give yourself plenty of free time so you have lots of flexibility. Because flexibility is what allows you to do more, not planning.

3. Don’t Take Too Much Time Planning

Planning should be quick and easy ! If it’s long and grueling then you won’t want to travel as often ! When traveling, it’s always good to remember that if you need it you can always buy it. That is a great rule of thumb to have. The resources you have at home are almost always available wherever you go. If you forget your toothbrush, you can just buy one there, it’s very simple ! And when planning I like to just think of my most basic needs and then my reason for traveling. So for instance, If I was going to take a weekend trip to Disneyland I would first plan my way of travel and the place I will be staying. So I would book my airline ticket and hotel/airbnb at the same time so I know they are both available. Then I would buy my Disneyland tickets. And just like that I would be done planning because I know that if I decide to add something to my to do list, I’ll have the free time to do that. And that plan takes a maximum of 30 minutes to figure out !

4. Relax

Life happens and mistakes are made. You can’t avoid 100% of all problems. So if or when they arrive, just remember that you’re still on vacation. You’re supposed to have fun. So when you’re at a restaurant and you spill your drink on your shirt, just laugh it off and go buy a new t-shirt. Vacation’s aren’t supposed to be a stiff serious thing. So just be loose and open minded and have the time of your life !
